Student and Graduate Enterprise (SGE) is a free start-up support service for Northumbria University graduates up to 5 years out.

The launch of a new project called Northumbria Enterprise and Business Support (NEBS) will enable the Service to help graduates who want to start their own business by providing bespoke mentoring with industry specialists and free office facilities on campus*.

NEBS will also provide 6 month graduate internship opportunities with regional businesses. This will enable graduates to kick start their career with a paid internship as well as gain skills and enhance their employability. There is also the potential to secure a permanent position at the end of the internship.

Amanda Michelle, alumna and owner of Amanda Michelle Design & Stationery, accessed the Service and shares her experience below:

"I first reached out to Student and Graduate Enterprise in the very early stages SGE - Amanda Michelleof my business planning. I was only just beginning to test the waters with my ideas and the direction of my business. They understood my ideas, the complications I faced and helped me through the whole process, meeting with me regularly to discuss how I wanted to move forward.

Throughout the last year, I have met some fantastic mentors and they have all give me some great advice. Starting a business is tough but it’s also hugely rewarding. Having such a great support network is incredible. I’ve learnt first-hand how valuable the service they offer is and I hope they continue to support and grow their network of young entrepreneurs."
