What was it about Northumbria University that made you
want to study here?
I decided to study at Northumbria University because I
wanted to be close to home as I had a baby sister and didn't want to miss her
growing up. I also found the opportunities that Northumbria offered really
good, such as the consultancy project.
What do you like about studying at Northumbria?
I love studying at university, as so much of my subject
is based upon group work and collaboration, and I really enjoy being able to
meet such varied people that I wouldn't really have been able to meet without
this opportunity. For most modules I have 1 lecture which delivers the taught
content and then 1 seminar where we discuss the subject in a smaller group and
work on tasks surrounding the content. My favourite part is probably
meeting such different people and being able to work with them and find out
their opinions and values. I also really enjoy the variety of work that is set
such as infographics, posters, and business plans.
What benefits has the scholarship provided?
It has meant that I could work less hours which has
allowed me to work more on specific projects that are relevant to the course
and gain more marketing-based experience.
What are your future goals? Has your course or the
scholarship helped shape/influence this?
I want to work in event marketing, my undergraduate
course allowed me to experience different possible sectors and confirmed I
wanted to work in marketing. My masters had confirmed the interest I do have in
this area.
If you could give advice to somebody considering
university, what would it be?
Just do it! You are stronger than you would ever think.
Just fully commit to it and you will have such a sense of pride and
achievement.
