Join our Faith and Business Conference

12th May 2021

Northumbria University, Newcastle, is hosting a one-day online conference exploring how faith traditions across different religions can help create more ethical businesses.

Part of Northumbria’s Responsible Business Seminar series, the Faith and Business Conference on May 25 is open to members of the public. Speakers will discuss a variety of business-themed topics through the lens of ancient Indian scripture, Quaker discernment, Presbyterian virtues, Sikh approaches to the environment, Buddhist mindfulness, Islamic fintech and Christian versus secular conceptions of 'calling'.

A keynote lecture, 'Good Business and God's Good Economy: Some Pointers for Applying Biblical Economic Justice in Today's World' will also be delivered by economist, theologian and Anglican church minister, Rev. Dr Andy Hartropp.

Other areas to be explored will include workplace spirituality, meaningful work and corporate mindfulness. As Northumbria Business academic Dr Mai Chi Vu explains: "I will be speaking about how companies often get mindfulness wrong.  And how Buddhism can teach them what it should be about.”

The Conference runs from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Tuesday, May 25. For more information and to register a place please visit the events page on the Northumbria University website
