Alison Fellows

Alison Fellows

Alison joined the Board of Governors of Northumbria University in 2023. She grew up on Teesside, where she was the first member of her family to go to university, reading law at Cambridge. She worked for many years as a solicitor and then switched to working at a senior level in the public sector.

During her career her roles have included:

  • Commercial Director of Teesside International Airport
  • Group Commercial Director at Tees Valley Combined Authority, where she was responsible for the development and delivery of place-based projects
  • Executive Director of Commercial Development for Sunderland City Council
  • Assistant Director of Capital Investment for Newcastle City Council
  • Partner and Head of the Commercial Team with law firm Dickinson Dees (now part of Womble Bond Dickinson).

Alison is a non-executive director of Gentoo Homes and both North Tees and South Tees Foundation Hospitals NHS Trusts, and is also an independent member of Newcastle City Council’s Audit Committee.  She previously spent 8 years as a NED with the North East Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust and was on the board of governors of Sunderland College for 3 years.

Alison lives with her husband in Newcastle and has 2 grown up children. In 2024 she completed an MA in Creative Writing with Teesside University.
