External Examiner Information

External examiners for Postgraduate Research Examinations can find the information and paperwork that they need below. They will also need to be aware of the Academic Regulations that are listed above.

Information for the Examination Team

Please find below all of the information needed by an examiner for a postgraduate research degree Viva Voce examination. You can also find the relevant Academic Regulations above.

The preliminary report (A Form) should be completed prior to the examination and the examiners will discuss these in the private meeting immediately before the examination takes place.

Expenses for Research Degree Examinations

External examiners will be provided with a copy of the expenses claim form on or before the day of the examination.  A copy of this as well as expenses guidance can be found on the Guidance for External Examiners webpage, under Fees and Expenses
