When did you study at Northumbria University?

I studied at Northumbria University in the first semester of the academic year 2017/18.

What subject did you study at Northumbria?

Psychology.

Why did you decide to do Study Abroad?

I had always wanted to go to the U.K. and I wanted to experience the country from a local standpoint, rather than a tourist’s standpoint.

Why did you decide to come to Northumbria University?

My home university offered an exchange programme at Northumbria University, and the programmes seemed like they would provide me with a global perspective in the field that I study.

What is your favourite memory of being at Northumbria?

Definitely the first day that I moved in! I had been talking to my soon-to-be neighbours and flatmates online.

The first day I got there, I got off of the bus and I saw my new friends waiting for me outside of my accommodation!

Did you find living in Newcastle expensive?

Not at all. I found Newcastle to be much more affordable than the cities in my home country.

How will you use your experience of Studying Abroad at Northumbria in the future?

I applied to study my postgraduate degree at Northumbria University, and I’m hoping I get in. Northumbria University has strengthened my sense of global citizenship, and has given me more opportunities to study cultural competency, which is an important trait to have in my field.

What advice would you give to a student who is thinking of coming to Northumbria to Study Abroad?

Make friends with the locals and talk to your professors. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, the university is always happy to help!
