Our department includes English Literature, Linguistics, Creative Writing and History. The courses we run connect with many partners in the North East and are taught by inspirational academic staff with a genuine passion for their subject.

Are there any scholarships available?

INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Undergraduate International Scholarships:

We offer a range of scholarships here at Northumbria to international students wishing to study with us, this includes up to £6,000 across the duration of an undergraduate degree, including a guaranteed £3,000 in year one. You can find out more here.

Postgraduate International Scholarships:

Postgraduate students receive a guaranteed £3,000 scholarship, and they also have the opportunity to apply for a 50% fee discount with the International Vice Chancellor's Scholarship. You can find out more here.

EU SCHOLARSHIPS AND FUNDING

Undergraduate EU Scholarships:

We offer a range of scholarships to EU students wishing to study with us. This includes a European Union Academic Excellence scholarship worth £2,000. Students from the European Union member states are also able to take advantage of student finance directly from the UK Government.

Postgraduate EU Scholarships:

Postgraduate EU students will have the opportunity to apply for our Vice Chancellor's Scholarship; this is worth £2,750 and will be used to reduce the tuition fee you pay. European Union students will also be able to take advantage of the UK Government's Postgraduate Loan which can help toward tuition fees and living costs.

How do I accept my offer?

Already applied? Have an offer? It's never been easier to accept your place. Simply click here and login to the portal using the details which were sent to you when you submitted your application. You can also upload your academic documents here, and ask our Applicant Services team any questions you may have.

International students (from outside of the European Union) may have been asked to pay a deposit - you can do this via our payment portal here. The amount you need to pay is outlined in your offer letter.

What happens once I have accepted my offer?

Once you have accepted your offer and paid your deposit (non-EU students only), we will issue you with a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance to study). This will allow you to apply for your visa. You will also start to receive emails from us with hints and tips on booking your accommodation, city life, enrolment information and information about our free meet and greet service.

European Union nationals do not need to pay a deposit and we will be in touch with more information once you have accepted your offer.

We will also invite you to our International and EU Welcome Event. Here you can find out more information about life in the UK, including how to register with a GP, a dentist and how to open a bank account.

What happens when I arrive in Newcastle?

Arriving in a foreign country for the first time can be a daunting and exciting experience, that's why we have organised a selection of events and little extras to make settling in as easy as possible.

The first thing you should do is register for our free Meet and Greet Service. This means we will collect you from Newcastle International Airport and transport you to your accommodation. This is a free service offered to all students arriving into the airport. Book your place here.

If you are an international student (from outside the European Union), you will need to attend an international enrolment event. This will enable us to enrol you onto your programme. You will need to bring a copy of your passport and visa to this event. European Union nationals do not need to attend an enrolment event.

Don't forget to have fun and make friends! The perfect time to do this is during Welcome Week - here you can join societies, meet likeminded people and mingle in our pre-organised events. Find out more here.
