Dementia - Masterclass - MC0009

About this course

This masterclass is commissioned by Health Education England as part of its continuing workforce development (CWD) portfolio. If you are interested in participating, please complete the application form and gain authorisation from your Line Manager and your Trust Training Coordinator.

This masterclass is aimed at practitioners who care for all patients with Dementia. The module will look at some of the commonly used assessment tools and look at what they mean for both assessment and treatment of people with dementia. There will be time to reflect on current practice and critically analyse the value of the tools. You are welcome to bring copies of tools that you use in practice for discussion. The masterclass will cover Delirium diagnoses, cause and best practice in terms of management and recovery and will look at specific issues that can arise. The masterclass will also look at communication techniques including validation therapy, truth telling and SPECAL.

The use of interactive teaching approaches with input from Clinical experts offers an opportunity to share experiences and highlight key challenges in holistic assessment and care delivery of Adults with life limiting conditions across a range of care settings. A range of resources and best practice guidance is shared.
