This is a module focused upon practice and skills acquisition, particularly in the areas of the development of the admission profile and early interview. Mental Health Practitioners will be developing and acquiring skills in these areas in order to progress care treatment and management related to care planning and care evaluation. The practitioners skills repertoire will therefore be enhanced in relation to using a systematised approach to history recording, formulation, assessment and risk assessment and management. The module aims to provide students with the opportunity to critically explore the nature of history taking and its contribution to comprehensive assessment in mental health and/or learning disability care. The module will also encourage students to reflect upon their own blend of using theory and skills in practice, and the development of skills in the areas outlined above.
