At the School of Computer Science, we are shaping the future of technology – with people at the heart of it.  Whether you're into AI, cyber security, coding, or want to explore how tech impacts society, we’ll help you become a skilled, responsible, and future-ready computer scientist.

We focus on real-world experience, not just theory. Every undergraduate student gets the opportunity to do a live project with a real-world client, partnering with companies including Ryder Architecture and Accenture Software. This hands-on approach builds confidence and boosts employability. You’ll graduate with practical skills, industry experience, and a CV that stands out.

RESPONSIBLE COMPUTING FOCUS

Our courses cover four key areas: Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Human-Centred Computing. What makes us different is our strong focus on responsible computing – our computers and society module is part of every undergraduate course. You’ll explore the big questions – like how tech affects people, the planet, and the future – and you’ll be part of ensuring the tech of the future works for everyone.

RESEARCH-LED TEACHING

Our teaching is shaped by our research, and all our staff are active researchers. With world-leading expertise in responsible AI and citizen-centred computing – you’ll be learning, and shaping, the latest thinking on the impact of tech.

Housed in our award-winning £7m building, the School of Computer Science offers a supportive, diverse and inclusive environment for students from all backgrounds and nationalities, including those who’ve never studied computing before. We understand that everyone’s journey is different, so we offer lots of support to help you succeed.
