Research Project

Blurring the Screen: Queer Sex and Sexuality in the Screenwriting of Russell T. Davies

My PhD thesis will address representations of sex and sexuality in the contemporary mainstream work of Welsh screenwriter Russell T. Davies using queer theory as ‘a way of seeing’. Addressing particularly Queer as Folk (1999), Doctor Who (2005-), Torchwood (2006) and Cucumber/Banana/Tofu (2015), it will question to what extent they subvert heteronormativity and blur boundaries of identity as they are traditionally understood. Please visit my blog for details.
