Medical Sciences Diploma - Four Year Pathway

Why did you choose the Northumbria University and St George’s University International Medical Pathway?

I was looking for a medical school and this programme was recommended to me by one of my college professors in the US. I did my own research online and decided to apply as I love experiencing new countries.Sarah -Tyokoghir _Medical -Sciences -Diploma _Staffprofile 255

What are the benefits of spending the first part of your International Medical Pathway in Newcastle?

I really like the small class size which means you have plenty of access to your lecturers. And I love the fact that the University is so diverse; there are many nationalities represented on campus.

What were your first impressions of Northumbria University when you arrived?

It is obvious that Northumbria and SGU have a strong partnership. Before I came here I didn't realise I would have access to all of the facilities of a large university. We also have access to specialist Northumbria resources such as Anatomy.tv which is really helpful for my studies. There are lots of things to do in my spare time and I am looking forward to joining the Afro-Caribbean society this semester.

I have lived in small towns and large cities and Newcastle has the perfect balance; everything is close and you can walk everywhere.

What are your plans for the future?

In Nigeria, where I am from, there is limited access to healthcare, especially in rural areas. Once I have qualified I would like to return to Nigeria to practice medicine and start a clinic in a rural area. I would like to specialise in paediatrics.
