What expertise will you bring to AI?

I hold an undergraduate and MRes degree in Psychology, with a research focus on LGBTQ+ relationships, victimization, feminism, and gender studies. Through my MRes, I gained valuable experience in coding software, a skill that complements my work in the CCAI program. Over the past three years, I have also worked as a Demonstrator (teaching assistant) and Research Assistant, contributing to projects on hate crime reporting, spiking myths, and rape myths. I am passionate about using my research and teaching experiences to advance social justice and inclusivity in AI development.

Research Interests

My research interest is to investigate gender bias in AI systems and how stereotypes are perpetuated through language. I plan to examine Natural Language Processing models and how gender biased language is reproduced in AI systems.

What made you want to apply for CCAI?

Various interdisciplinary approaches, particularly design aspects that can be incorporated within steering groups. As AI is becoming more prevalent, we need to ensure that the language used reduces the prevalence of stereotypes.

What are your ambitions for AI? How do you plan to change the world?

My goal is to reduce gender biased language to reduce the harm that is perpetuated in gender-based stereotypes. As AI systems are rapidly advancing, it is important that we take a feminist approach into the development of AI systems.
