What expertise will you bring to AI?

I hold a BSc in Astrophysics, an MSc in Disaster Management and Sustainable Development, and a PGCE in secondary school teaching. I have taught science for over six years in Bhutan and the UK. Most recently, I worked with an organization supporting teachers in embedding essential skills into their curriculum. My diverse academic and professional background informs my current research, where I explore how education and sustainability intersect with technology, with a focus on creating impactful, practical solutions for global challenges.

Research Interests

Having worked in a number of secondary schools in the North East I’m interested in researching the impact AI could have on social mobility. I am interested in learning more about how AI is currently being used by teachers and students and exploring potential ways in which AI could be harnessed to support teaching and learning particularly of students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

What made you want to apply for CCAI?

Having the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals from different sectors with varying experience with AI has the potential to lead to great peer learning and exploring different perspectives relating to AI.

What are your ambitions for AI? How do you plan to change the world?

I’m still learning more about AI and I feel there is real potential for the use of AI in school education but that the voice of students and teachers needs to be heard to ensure that the impact is meaningful. I’m hoping that the research I carry out is able to contribute to the growing discussion around the use of AI in quality teaching and learning in schools.
