Graduates set up creative ideas agency during lockdown

Dooka was created from a shared ambition to work with people that inspire and on projects that the team truly believe in. After graduating from Northumbria in 2017, Barney, Jack, Haaris and Rob took the opportunity to go out and gain a range of industry experience, however the thought of running their own creative agency was always in the forefront of their minds. The graduates acted upon these thoughts in April 2020, and dooka was born, named aptly after the street in Jesmond where the friends all lived.

Barney commented on the agency: "Since our inception we have had the opportunity to work with clients of various size and scale, building brands all the way from initial strategy, to identity systems, to bespoke online digital spaces. Our clients range from a gin start-up with conservation at its heart, to a chef who bridges cooking and comedy in unique ways.Dooka

In understanding the parts of the business we had no previous experience with, the Northumbria Enterprise School has always been on hand to help out. Be it legal support or sales training, wherever there has been an opportunity for Northumbria to aid in our growth they have connected us with the appropriate people to help. This has not only benefited our service, but importantly our mindset, which in turn has propelled us into our second year of trading. 

Our goals remain the same as ever - to do the work we love, for ideas we respect, with people we admire. And we're looking forward to doing more of just that."
