Northumbria Graduate Futures Summer Internship funding announced

Northumbria Graduate Futures can further support the growth of small to medium sized businesses by providing a grant to recruit an undergraduate Northumbria student for a Summer Internship of between 8-13 weeks. This new funding activity is provided by the existing Northumbria Enterprise Business Support scheme (NEBS2) and is aimed at trading SMEs in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

Hiring a student on a Summer Internship offers a wealth of benefits to an SME including an injection of passion to drive your business further. Summer Internships are an excellent opportunity to capitalise on the skills of a Northumbria student, one who can apply the theoretical learning fresh from academic studies to fulfil a skills gap or undertake a specific, timely project. A Summer Internship is a low risk and effective opportunity to experience the benefits of recruiting a student and presents the very real potential of identifying a candidate for a future opportunity such as placement, part-time employment, or a permanent graduate employment.

Eligible SMEs can apply for a grant of up to £2,025 towards the salary of a summer intern on a full time, paid internship from 8 – 13 weeks. This is offered on a minimum annual salary of £18,000 per annum with funding provided pro-rata. For further information please contact internships@northumbria.ac.uk

Don’t forget, that if you are a Northumbria graduate jobseeker looking for an internship opportunity there is still the opportunity to apply via the established graduate internship scheme, which has now been extended to include internships from 8 – 26 weeks in duration. Interested graduates can find details of  current internships on Northumbria University’s vacancy portal JobsOnline, or by going directly to the Northumbria Enterprise Business Support internship scheme details.
