Our Alumni - Work For Us
Students at Northumbria University are set to receive a boost from two new supporters – Space Group, a Newcastle business resident since 1957, and Arctic Wolf, new to the city in 2021.
Both companies are respected leaders in their sectors, boasting international profiles and customers. The new annual scholarships will enable undergraduate and postgraduate students from under-represented backgrounds to access Northumbria University.
As part of the Higher Education Without Barriers campaign, Northumbria is working in partnership with Space Architects to support two undergraduate Architecture scholarships for students from the North East. Their support will bring diverse talent into their sector and enable students to pursue their career goals.
Rob Charlton, CEO of Space Group said;
“At a time when it is increasingly expensive to enter the profession, Space is delighted to be able to support students starting their architectural career”.
While Arctic Wolf is fresh to Newcastle, the Cyber Security leader is also ambitious to develop and diversify future talent. Arctic Wolf opened its Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) head office on Grey Street in September 2022, following a period of continued expansion and rapid growth.
They will provide support for two postgraduate scholarships in Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management and Computer Science at Northumbria University.
Clare Loveridge, Vice President & General Manager EMEA said;
“Cybersecurity and technology are amazing careers for young people, and I am delighted that we at Arctic Wolf can support the Northumbria University sponsorship programme for the coming three years. I am especially excited to be able to support students in the North East in seeing the huge opportunity a career in cybersecurity gives them, and particularly to encourage those from underrepresented backgrounds to bring their skills and abilities to this vital sector to the UK and North East specifically”.
The scholarships continue the progress of Northumbria’s successful Higher Education Without Barriers campaign. With support from alumni, businesses, and charitable partners, it provides a range of financial initiatives, mental health & well-being services, and community-based projects, to make participation and progression in higher education more achievable for talented students, regardless of their circumstances.
Thanks to generous donations of money and time, the Fund has raised over £2.3 million, created 100 NEW scholarships, and supported more than 800 students since it launched in January 2022.
As part of the scholarship fund, the University is launching a new Sport Scholarship for budding young coaches and officials and is welcoming businesses and supporters to a Sports Fundraising Dinner at St James’ Park on Friday 20th October.
