Terms and Conditions for a Free Prize Draw
- Status of these Terms and Conditions. The Promotion shall be subject to these Terms and Conditions. In addition, all instructions, rules and conditions relating to the Promotion shall form part of the Promotion. But in the event of any conflict or inconsistency these Terms and Conditions will prevail.
- Eligibility. Entrants must have graduated during the stated promotion period and be aged 18 years or over. Staff of Northumbria University are not eligible to participate. Nor is anyone connected with the administration of the Promotion.
- How to enter. The Promotion is free to enter and no purchase is necessary. To enter the Promotion, you must register as a member of the Alumni Association via the online form at www.northumbria.ac.uk/nugrad or at the point of registering for your ceremonies via the online booking task. There can be only one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint entries are not allowed.
- Promotion period. The opening date for entries is 9am on 1 February 2025. The closing date for the Promotion is 5pm on 31 July 2025. Entries received after this time will not be entered into the Promotion.
- No responsibility. Northumbria University accepts no responsibility for entries that are incomplete, or which are delayed, damaged, corrupted, misdirected or lost, or which cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of any entry does not constitute proof of its receipt.
- Prize. The winner will receive one £250 Amazon voucher. But Northumbria University reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond its control make it necessary to do so.
- Prizes are non-exchangeable and non-transferable, and are not redeemable for any other prize or monetary sum.
- Method of selecting the winner. It is intended that there will be one winner as part of the Promotion. The winner will be chosen by random draw performed by a computer process, or supervised by an independent person, within thirty (30) days following the closing date stated in paragraph 5 above.
- Notification. The winner will be notified by email or telephone (using details provided) via email as soon as reasonably possible after the winner have been chosen but in any event within thirty (30) days following the closing date stated in paragraph 4 above.
- Northumbria University accepts no liability if notification is delayed or unsuccessful as a result of the entrant supplying contact details which are inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date.
- Claiming the prize. The prize will be sent to the winner by Northumbria University by email or by post. If it is mutually convenient, Northumbria University may agree that the winner can instead collect the prize in person.
- But if for any reason a winner does not respond to Northumbria University within thirty (30) days of being notified of winning, or rejects his/her prize, or his/her entry is invalid, or he/she in ineligible to enter the Promotion, or he/she is otherwise in breach of these Terms and Conditions, the winner’s prize will be forfeited and Northumbria University may (but need not) select an alternative winner in accordance with the process described above.
- Publicity. Northumbria University is required to either publish or make available information which indicates that the promotion took place and the prize was awarded. To comply with this obligation, Northumbria University will send the surname and the country of residence of each winner to anyone who emails Northumbria University Alumni and Philanthropy Team at alumni@northumbria.ac.uk within thirty (30) days after the closing date stated in paragraph 4 above. If you object to either of your surname or country being published or made available, please notify Northumbria University Alumni and Philanthropy Team at alumni@northumbria.ac.uk. In such circumstances, Northumbria University must still supply the information to the Advertising Standards Authority upon request.
- Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Northumbria University’s total liability to each entrant in connection with the promotion or these Terms and Conditions, including any liability for negligence, is limited to the supply of the prize or its monetary value. But this limitation will not apply to any liability for death or personal injury or for any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.Your statutory rights are not affected.
- If the Promotion is publicised on Facebook, X, Snap Chat, Instagram or any other social media platforms, the Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any of these social media platforms. By participating in the Promotion, entrants agree to release and hold harmless each such social media platform from any and all liabilities incurred directly or indirectly in consequence of, or arising from, the Promotion or participation in it.
- Personal Data. Northumbria University and its third party processors (if any) will use and take care of any personal information you supply in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2016, the Data Protection Act 2018 and Northumbria University’s privacy policy at https://northumbria-cdn.azureedge.net/-/media/services/legal/gdpr/pdf/201804gendataprotectionpolicyv2.pdf?modified=20210514122751. Please also see paragraph 15 above with regard to the announcement of winners.
- Modifications. Northumbria University reserves the right to cancel, suspend or void the Promotion or to amend these Terms and Conditions where it becomes necessary to comply with any change of law or for any other reason.
- Severance. If any provision or part-provision of the Promotion or these Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision or part-provision will be deemed modified or deleted, but that will not affect the validity or enforceability of the rest of the Promotion or these Terms and Conditions.
- Language. The Promotion and these Terms and Conditions are written in the English language. But in the event of any conflict or inconsistency between any translated version and the English language version, the English language version will prevail.
- Disputes. The decision of the Northumbria University regarding any aspect of the Promotion is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
- Governing Law and Jurisdiction. The Promotion and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by English law and entrants agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
- The Promoter. The Promoter of the Promotion is University of Northumbria at Newcastle (trading as ‘Northumbria University’), a higher education corporation and exempt charity in England, whose principal office is at Sutherland Building, College Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8ST.
- Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. By submitting an entry or participating in the Promotion, entrants shall be deemed to have accepted and to have agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the instructions, rules and conditions of relating to the Promotion.
