About the Alumni office
The Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) is responsible for keeping in contact with all our graduates, raising money for university priority projects and looking after and acknowledging donors.
We are a small team working energetically to make the most of the opportunities to connect with, and grow, our family of friends, supporters and alumni. We are always delighted to hear from you.
Alumni Relations looks after all our former students, regardless of whether you were with the University, Newcastle Polytechnic or our predecessor organisations. It doesn’t matter where you are located or whatever you are doing, you are still part of our global family and we like to hear from you.
We facilitate networking, social events and reunions, help to trace friends, and we like to include you in the day-to-day life of the University if you want to support future generations of students, through volunteering your time and expertise, sharing our experiences and knowledge, or giving lectures or master classes. We also provide a range of benefits for all our former students, including careers advice, mentoring and professional development and discounts for the library or sports facilities on campus.
We also run the Alumni Fund, in which single or regular monthly donations build up to fund projects which enhance the student experience, creates opportunities and transforms lives.
The Development Team seeks to enhance the student experience by identifying opportunities to engage with alumni and other interested supporters.
These opportunities may include placements, graduate internship, mentoring and other areas of expertise which can support students in developing their range of knowledge and skills.
Opportunities for philanthropic giving are also developed in line with the University’s strategic plans, offering exciting avenues for potential philanthropic support at various levels.
Charitable gifts can make a huge difference to the student experience through support which includes scholarships, prizes, improved facilities, equipment and other elements of priority projects which would not otherwise be possible.
