SAFECONOMY H2Economy: Hydrogen Economy Workshop

-

Northumbria University

The UK views hydrogen as a key solution to achieving its Net Zero target by 2050 and meeting the Sixth Carbon Budget by 2035. The UK Government recognizes the importance of partnerships between industry, academia, and research institutions in identifying and addressing the environmental impacts of hydrogen production and utilization.

Similarly, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) launched its National Hydrogen Strategy in 2020, aiming to become a leading global exporter. KSA's multidimensional approach to reducing carbon emissions aligns with its Vision 2030, which targets generating 50% of the nation's electricity from renewable energy sources, particularly hydrogen, leveraging some of the lowest production costs worldwide.

The H2Economy project focuses on developing a green hydrogen system, supported by an AI framework for production management, and integrating it with the energy network. This collaborative initiative forms a unique consortium, uniting leading institutions and industries from both the UK and KSA. The H2Economy project is well aligned with the UK’s Net Zero targets, combining 24-hour solar energy applications with hydrogen production and CO2 reduction efforts. This initiative will pave the way for the development of hydrogen production technologies and their commercial applications both in the UK and globally, driving sustainable energy innovation.

The upcoming workshop will gather leading experts in the field to explore the latest advancements in hydrogen technology for a wide range of applications. Additionally, it will serve as a platform for training researchers in solar-to-alternative energy solutions and fostering skills in engineering entrepreneurship.

The event is free to attend.
