1st November 2016

Robert Jones, a Northumbria University business student studying on a pioneering Entrepreneurial Business Management (EBM) course where students set up and run their own companies has been shortlisted for a prestigious Enterprising Award.

The 19-year old who is currently in his second year of studies, has been nominated for Enterprising Learner of the Year award after launching his business venture called Lundgren Tours Ltd.

Celebrating outstanding endeavour in enterprise learning and skills, The Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE) and the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative (SFEDI) will host the awards on Thursday 10 November at the House of Lords. Leading business will gather to recognise learners, educators, entrepreneurs, mentors, policy-shapers and others making an outstanding contribution to the UK’s enterprise and skills landscape.

Ruth Lowbridge MBE, Executive Chair of the SFEDI Group, said: “All of those shortlisted have proven themselves to be exemplary in their field and have been handpicked from a selection of very high calibre nominees across all categories. Whoever goes on to receive the ultimate accolade of winning each award, every one of the finalists should be very proud indeed. The Celebrating Enterprise Awards is our most significant event of the year, celebrating the achievements of the most enterprising individuals and organisations across both across the UK and internationally.”

Natalia Blagburn, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Newcastle Business School, said: “This is a great personal achievement for Robert and clear recognition for the EBM course. Robert has created an excellent business and we wish every success with his venture, and the awards.”

Newcastle Business School has a reputation for an innovative and pioneering approach to learning and teaching, and was named Business School of the Year for 2015 in the Times Higher Education awards.
