Northumbria’s Summer 2021 Newspaper is out now!

6th July 2021

The Summer 2021 edition of Northumbria University News is now available to read online.

Packed full of the latest news, features and interviews, the newspaper is the perfect way to keep up to date with the exciting developments taking place across the University.

In this latest edition, you can read about the University’s biggest research stories, including how our researchers discovered the first evidence of the ‘tipping points’ of Antarctica’s biggest glacier, how Northumbria is leading the way in improving space weather predictions, and how our academics are examining the long-term impact of climate change on Siberia’s thawing permafrost.

You will also find this issue’s ‘Big Interview’ with Northumbria’s new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tom Lawson, who discusses his new role and future plans for the University. Additionally, read about the Northumbria University community’s ongoing contribution to the global fight against Covid-19, including vital research into mapping the spread of the virus, academics working on the frontline to support the vaccination roll-out and how staff and students have worked together to protect each other during the pandemic.

The Summer 2021 newspaper also includes a combined I am Northumbria and Thinking Postgraduate supplement. For those considering applying to study at Northumbria through Clearing this August, those who have secured an offer to start this September, or parents supporting their child through the process, the I Am Northumbria supplement aims to answer any questions you may have, with useful advice from current students, information about the learning experience at Northumbria, and much more.

For those considering postgraduate study at Northumbria, whether that is building on undergraduate study or changing direction, the Thinking Postgraduate supplement sets out how a Masters qualification could give you the additional skills employers are looking for in a post-Covid world.
