SMEs looking to grow urged to apply for free expert training

14th October 2021

Small to medium enterprises in Northumberland and Tyne and Wear are being offered free expert training from leading academics at Northumbria University, thanks to an innovative enterprise support programme.

The Northumbria Enterprise and Business Support 2 (NEBS2) scheme already provides SMEs with financial assistance to recruit talented graduate interns. With funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the scheme is also offering free expert coaching from experienced academics across a range of areas including recruitment, employment law, workforce pension arrangements and meaningful appraisals.

The initiative complements a wider regional response to economic recovery aimed at helping start-ups, SME’s and entrepreneurs to build their operations.  Participants will have up to 12 hours of expert advice, practical sessions, workshops and mentoring from highly skilled and successful business practitioners which will be delivered predominantly online.

The criteria for this offer are that businesses must have been trading for at least 12 months, located in the Tyne & Wear or Northumberland area and are looking to grow their staff base.

If your business (wants to take advantage of this opportunity) is looking to recruit your first employee or intern and you would like some further information about this offer, please contact rebecca.dutson@northumbria.ac.uk by 27th October for further information.
