Northumbria’s Spring 2021 Newspaper has landed!

8th March 2021

Our Spring 2021 newspaper is available to read online now.

Packed with the latest news, features and interviews, the newspaper is the perfect way to keep up to date with the exciting developments taking place across the University.

In this edition of Northumbria University News, you’ll find the biggest research stories from the last eight months, including the discovery of new activity within the Sun's atmosphere and a breakthrough in forensic research, which could change the way crimes are investigated forever. In this issue's 'Big Interview', Dr Roberta Blackman-Woods talks about her new role as Chair of the Board of Governors at Northumbria University.

Additionally, we take a look at the innovative ways our staff, students and alumni continue to work together to tackle the global Covid-19 crisis. Academics from our Department of Psychology have explored the impact of the pandemic on people with eating disorders, while researchers from our Healthy Living Lab revealed a quarter of adults went without food during lockdown to feed their children. Northumbria has also been awarded more than £1.2m for research tackling the ongoing challenges of Covid-19.

The Spring 2021 edition also comes complete with two special supplements. Our Partner of Choice supplement features all the University's latest business news, collaborations and case studies. It highlights how research can drive business innovation and growth, and demonstrates why upskilling and reskilling the workforce is more important now than ever before.

Also accompanying this edition is A Parents' Guide to Northumbria – the perfect guide for anyone applying for university or supporting their child through the transition to university. With articles on the admissions process, preparing for employment, and the support available to manage the change university brings, this supplement aims to answer the questions many parents will ask as their child considers embarking on a university education. For further advice, please register for our virtual events at northumbria.ac.uk/openday.
