Dr Honeyeh Ramezan Sefat

Dr. Honeyeh Ramezan Sefat is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering in the School of Engineering, Physics & Mathematics. She has more than a decade of experience in leading and contributing to R&D projects in Structural Engineering and Advanced Materials Development. She holds MSc and PhD degree in Civil/Earthquake Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University in Iran. After completing her PhD, she has been Post-doctoral Research Associate for more than five years in 4 different research projects at University of Minho, Portugal and University of Leeds, UK. She secured a European research grant of €240,000, funded by Horizon Portugal 2020, as Principal Investigator (PI), with the aim of developing prefabricated urban furniture made from advanced eco-friendly concrete. Her recent research has led to the publication of several papers in international peer-reviewed journals. She has also led a research team as Principal Supervisor, including Post-doctoral researcher and PhD students. Her work includes the Development of Advanced Green High-Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete, Machine Learning-Based Computational Methods, Experimental and Analytical Studies of High-Strain-Rate Loading, Advanced Numerical Modelling of Structures.

Prior to joining Northumbria University, she also has the experience of working in the industry as a Bridge Engineer at AECOM company for two years in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK with an extensive experience on Structural Health Monitoring and Assessment of the Bridges.
