Portland Green Student Village is located within a 10-minute walk of the University City Campus and is based in the vibrant area of Shieldfield. Just a short walk away from Ouseburn Valley where you can explore the local park, restaurants, and lot's of independent shops to explore.
Portland Green Student Village is a home to nearly 1500 students and offers a lively atmosphere with something for everyone. Whether you want to relax in the social space, join a study group in one of the study spaces or look after your heath and well-being by going to the on-site gym - you have everything under one roof.
Relax in a modern en-suite bedroom with a three-quarter bed, and make moving away to a new city a bit easier by living in cluster flats with four to seven flatmates. Each flat has a shared open-plan kitchen and lounge perfect for relaxing and socialising with new flatmates. All residents have access to a shared social space with a pool table and games area, large TVs and plenty of comfy sofas and large TVs.
Portland Green Student Village is operated by Abodus Student Living and you will benefit from a full 360 student experience with monthly social events calendar, on-site maintenance and a VIP programme with exclusive discounts.

Log into the Accommodation Section of the Student Portal to browse availability and start a booking. We encourage students to book accommodation early and always in advance of travelling to Northumbria University. If you apply early in the academic year, you can follow the below booking process:
1. Confirm your course offer with Northumbria University
If you are applying via UCAS, please log into your UCAS Hub and ensure your course offer is updated as your Firm choice. If you are applying via Clearing or Adjustment please log into UCAS Track and refer yourself to confirm your course offer. Please note this might take up-to 48h to be update on the University system.
If you are a direct entry applicant, please visit the Applicant Portal to review and accept your course offer. To learn more about the process and the required steps, you can visit the After you Apply Page.
2. Visit the Student Portal and log in to the Accommodation section where you can start your booking
Wait up-to 48 hours for your course acceptance to be recorded and using your applicant portal log in details (you will have received this via email when you applied) select the Accommodation section to start your application
Top Tip: Make sure you register with your personal email address and not one associated to a school/college. School/College email addresses are often closed after you leave and can delay the process.

3. Select your bedroom
Be in control of your accommodation and be able to select the most suitable bedroom for your preferences. Browse room availability in real time and self-select the exact location of your bedroom based on true building floor plans. See information about other residents and live with like minded people. We recommend booking accommodation early to ensure you can secure your top preference for accommodation.
Did you know, if you click on an occupied space during the bedroom selection process, you can see that persons age, course, nationality and flat preference.
4. Complete your contract
Room offers are sent via email, please check your inbox regularly, including the spam/junk folder. You are required to sign a tenancy agreement to accept and confirm your accommodation booking. This is completed online and you will receive a confirmation email with all relevant documents. For bookings at Portland Green, you will be required to provide details of a UK guarantor who can co-sign your tenancy agreement.
Top tip: Make sure you read your contract carefully as it is a legally binding agreement. If you don't understand anything, get in touch, we will be happy to run through it with you.
5. Pay your advance rent payment
The final step of your booking is making an advance rent payment. For bookings at Portland Green Student Village, this is equivalent to one weeks' rent. Once the payment has been made, the room is secured for you. This payment is part of your total accommodation cost and is used towards your final rent payment.
Once you've completed the process above, the room is secured for you. You will receive arrival details form the on-site team closer to the start of the contract.
