Application Deadlines and Key Dates

Newcastle Campus Application deadlines

Please see below for deadlines and key dates for your course. This information should be read in conjunction with the information on the course web page of your chosen course/area.

Applicants applying via UCAS should submit their application by 31 January 2024 where possible to guarantee consideration for September 2024. We will still continue to accept applications after this point but you should be mindful that courses could close after this deadline if they reach capacity limits.

You should refer to the UCAS website for details of key deadlines that applicants should adhere to if they apply via UCAS or check out our UCAS Deadlines PDF for a quick snapshot of the key dates you won't want to miss.

CAS Deadlines

To guarantee we can issue a CAS in time for you to arrive for the start of the course you must request your CAS (and ensure your deposit has cleared on your account) by 20 August 2024

Please do not request a CAS if you have not paid a deposit or have provided evidence of sponsorship. To ensure your deposit has cleared on your student account, you should use our online payment service to pay your deposit or allow at least two weeks for payments to clear if you are using alternative methods such as bank transfer.

CAS requests received after the 20 August 2024 will be considered on a Case-by-Case basis depending on the date you requested it, and the UKVI Visa processing time at that point.

CAS will be issued from April 2024 for September 2024 but you can request one via your applicant portal as soon as you are Unconditional Firm and have paid your deposit.

Terms and conditions

Please note:

The university reserves the right to amend deadlines, at short notice, based on application volume. All students who have registered for updates from Northumbria will be notified if deadlines change and will be given at least 3 days’ notice before courses close, where possible. Please click here to register for updates

The university reserves the right to defer applications where it is not possible to make offers to applicants for a particular intake.

Applying by the application deadlines do not guarantee an offer if candidates do not meet our entrance requirements, if there is no capacity, or if it is unrealistic to apply for immigration permission/travel to the UK.

Applications must be fully completed before we can consider them for an offer. Please note that we cannot guarantee to process incomplete applications received ahead of the deadline.

We may be unable to progress your application if you fail to respond to your offer within the specified timeframe and your application may be withdrawn.

The university reserves the right to defer any applications where a deposit has not been paid or CAS has not been requested by any deadline communicated to you.

Northumbria University is committed to providing an inclusive and diverse student experience, and to ensuring that students have the opportunity to access our education regardless of the country where they live. We also have a responsibility to provide an optimum student experience for all students and we recognise that diversity in our community is an important part of creating a multi-cultural and positive student experience. In addition, education systems and processes across the world are varied, with students achieving their award outcomes at different times. To that end, it may sometimes be necessary to close application routes for students from particular regions for particular courses ahead of any overarching deadline to ensure a balanced and diverse student body and so as not to disadvantage any student due to the timings and features of the education systems of their countries. In the event that we are oversubscribed with applications from a particular country that could significantly imbalance a student cohort in any one programme (anticipated more than 50%), we may close to new candidates from that region for individual programmes. In that instance, we would provide three calendar day notice that we intend to close to particular country, to allow any students who are keen to be considered to submit an application. We will notify students of our intent to close via our website and by email to any students who are registered on our mailing lists. In the event that we cannot offer a place for the original intake requested (and the candidate is suitable,) we will offer a deferred intake place.

Many of our courses attract a high volume of applications so we recommend that you apply prior to the deadline. Courses may close after these dates if all spaces are allocated for.  If however, spaces remain on the programme then the application deadlines will be extended in advance.
