Where are you from?

Liverpool

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

It's a very vibrant town yet just outside has some of the worlds best countryside.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

The people are so diverse and have such a down to earth approach to work and life in general.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Very welcoming, being from another city you are always a bit wary but I did not need to have worried and I don't want to finish next year!

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Leaning! I will be 59 when I graduate and wished I had started years ago, though I don't think you can stop learning all your life. I have been teaching my job for 35 years.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

Definitely the tutors, they are very laid back and so approachable.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Be first in class and last out.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

Not yet but booked to do a work placement with Applied ecological sevices.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

Three field trips all in this country and all in England's wettest weather but I love the outdoors.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Do it! I spent a year at another university and there is a big difference, this one is not a scary place at all,far from it!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have always been confident due to my job but I have learned so much more about other subjects and life in general here.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Enjoyable, educational and relaxed.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Definitely!
