Why did you choose Northumbria University?
Because it was far away from home in a new city, and I really enjoyed the Open Day.
What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?
I love Newcastle! The local people are lovely and it's not a big city so easy to explore. I love how close it is to the coast and obviously the night life is up there with one my favourite things to do!
What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?
It is surprising how easy it is to get around and how close everything is to home. Most places (University, town, the gym) are within walking distance of one another and if there's somewhere you need to get to further away, the public transport is always reliable.
Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?
Yes! Welcome Week in first year was great. Everyone in halls was friendly and it was so easy to make friends. Everyone's in the same boat so everyone knows how everyone else feels.
What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?
Living in a new city and becoming more independent. Learning that even if you realise you're on a course you don't particularly enjoy, you can still have fun and make the most of it.
Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects?
I joined rowing and gymnastics in first year. Best decision of my university life! Both were so much fun and I was a bit gutted I couldn't afford to carry on in second and third year. Meeting so many new people whilst doing an activity you all love is great fun.
What is the best thing about your course?
The fieldtrips!
Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips?
First year, a week in the Lake District. Second year, a week in Spain. Third year, 4 days in Amsterdam. All three trips were brilliant and my life and University would not have been the same.
If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?
Come with an open mind, work hard and just have fun! Go with the flow!
How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University?
I have definitely become more confident and independent after three years of living away from home and I do not plan on moving back home!

Eye-opening, rewarding, fabulous!
Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?
