BA (hons) 3D Design

3D-Design _Student _Becca -DaviesWhere is your hometown?

Brighton

Why did you choose to study 3D Design at Northumbria University?

After a couple of years deferring and applying here, there and everywhere, my priorities were changing and I finally decided to go to Northumbria. The course blends designing, making, industry and technology and is very well covered. The tutors and technicians really provide you with all the skills you need to become a self-sufficient and confident designer.

What do you think of Newcastle and the North East, and what are your favourite things to do here?

The people are very friendly; the town is vibrant and compact with everything you need. Some of my favourite things to do are explore the coastline and Northumberland which are both beautiful. I also love finding great little pubs and cafes in Newcastle's lesser known areas. The occasional trip to Edinburgh is great too!

Where is your favourite place on campus?

The Design studios

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects?

Yes, I joined Northumbria Netball Club and was picked to be in the Development Team. I am part of Northumbria Swimming club and part of the Surf Society. I try and fit in a climb too when my workload allows!

What is the best thing about your course?

I like the fact we are kept on our toes with lots of different projects and work.

How often do you see your tutors?

5 Days a week without fail - there is always someone around to help or chat to, tutors or technicians.

What are the facilities for 3D Design like?

Outstanding!

What do you want to do in the future?  And what skills have you learned on the 3D Design programme that you think will be of help?

In the future I would love to work in a design studio amongst designer makers, architects, model makers, industrial designers. The 3D Design programme has really boosted my skills. I am becoming more confident in presenting my work, with computer software and making - all of which help to make me more reputable.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel on 3D Design field trips?

I am currently in my first year and so far we have only had one trip and that was to Tynemouth beach for a project. Nice beach! Great for a surf.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study 3D Design what would you say?

Take your time to make a decision, ask lots of questions. If you love to design, make and want to become a well rounded designer I couldn't recommend this course more.
