Sayed Ebrahim

Sayed -ebrahimOn the road a vehicle experiences highly unsteady flow resulting from natural atmospheric conditions and from turbulent wakes generated by other vehicles. This flow unsteadiness is likely to be further enhanced if current research into the operation of multiple vehicles in very close-spaced platoons is translated into practical implementation. The study will characterise the nature and magnitude of the flow unsteadiness experienced by a typical road vehicle and investigate its impact on the flow physics and aerodynamic performance. This research uses a combination of wind tunnel and test track measurements supported by numerical optimisation.
