Interactive-Media-Design_Student_Alain-NkusiWhere are you from?

Kigali, Rwanda in Africa

Why did you choose Northumbria Design, and what did you know about us before you applied?

I have a friend of mine who recommended it, and it is one of best Universities in England with a great reputation of success rate of employment for its graduates in the Media Industry.

What do you most like about Newcastle, and how do you find the city?

The city is beautiful with its diversity of shops and entertainment venues, and the people are so welcoming.

How do you find the cost of living in Newcastle?

The cost of living in Newcastle is relatively cheap compared to other university towns such as Cambridge, Oxford and London etc.

Did you find Northumbria Design welcoming?

Yes, very welcoming!

How do you find your tutors and the staff within the School?

They are absolutely fantastic, very friendly, knowledgeable and well experienced in their respective fields.

What are the facilities like?

Second to none. The University, especially Northumbria Design is well equipped with top of the range equipment.

What do you like most about Northumbria Design?

It is well resourced; I have had the best time whilst studying here, the helpfulness of teaching staff and the quality of the teaching materials, as well as their delivery is fantastic.

Tell me a bit about your course?

There is no simple explanation of Interactive Media Design but I can say it is a course that teaches you how to think methodically in designing products or services with end-users at its centre stage and how he/she will interact with it.

If you had to pick an object to represent your course, what would it be and why?

Smart Phone. They are highly customisable, offer a varied range of services from entertainment to fitness and they are what I would call “user-centred design” which is what Interactive Media Design is all about.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Best time ever!!!!

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Come to Northumbria University and you will not regret your decision.

What are your plans now and for the future?

I’m hoping to further my education; I have already applied for MSc Multidisciplinary Design Innovation, a postgraduate course at Northumbria Design, and I will seek employment or set up my own business afterwards.

What skills would you say you have gained/improved since the start of your course?

Technical and communication skills, I am more confident and more optimistic of my future.

What new knowledge of your subject area have you learnt so far on your course?

I have learnt how to apply various theories and skills in designing, as well as thinking outside the box.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria Design?

There is a big a change in me as person and in my abilities to achieve my goals through the acquired knowledge and skills I have gained.
