What made you want to study law at university?

Since I can remember I have wanted to study law. I have done work placements in law before I applied to university to experience what it would be like to study law and go into it as a career. It was from this that I decided it was right for me. Some people say law is a difficult subject.

How have you found it?

I think law is a challenging subject, but it is also really rewarding. We have a lot of contact hours and quite a large workload/reading list but the course itself is enjoyable, you get to experience different areas of law straight away in your first year, and we are presented with numerous opportunities such as debating and mooting.

What are the people like on your course?

All tutors and staff within the law school are lovely and really helpful. If you ever need any assistance there is always someone available to help you.

Why did you choose to study at Northumbria University, Newcastle?

The law course at Northumbria really stood out for me because it was close to home and different to many of the other law courses across the country. The MLaw degree has an integrated LPC and reviews from previous students that I had spoken to whilst on work experience said it was a fantastic law school to attend.

I live at home with my parent’s full time.

Have you got involved in any of the law societies or other extra curricular activities in the Law School such as mooting?

I am a member of the Grey Society within the law school, and I have been currently doing some volunteer work outside of the law school.

What has been your favourite law module so far and why?

Although I enjoy all subjects, contract law has definitely been my favourite, the seminars are so interesting and you learn so much within the two hours.

What is the best thing about your course?

We have a lot of contact hours with tutors in both lectures and seminars, therefore I always manage to get my work done and if I need any help there is always a member of staff around for assistance.

Do you want to become a solicitor or barrister or are you thinking about another career path?

I would like to be a solicitor within business legal services. Corporate law and finance and banking have always been interests of mine within law, incorporating these with businesses would be ideal for me.
