Angie
After leaving uni I worked in various studios in London. I then founded a duvet cover business which supplied high street department stores. Moved to the country in East Sussex and converted a derelict 17th century barn, a project which I’d certainly never do again!

Teamed up with Mark Greenwood to enter a competition at an agency called Darcy McManus and Masius - a huge 400+ staff American-owned advertising agency. I seem to remember there were at least 12 teams we were up against for a job as Art Directors. Mark and l somehow won it. Currently UX/UI Designer at Go Green.

After Newcastle - worked in Design groups in London, Hong Kong, and Sydney. Studied choreography at The Martha Graham School in New York. Later back in the U.K. did a BA in Dance Studies and an MA in Dance on film. Choreographed and directed dance films and now making ceramics.

I have ran the 2nd London Marathon. When a friend began a general printing business in 1983, I set up and ran a small in-house studio for 5 years creating design/artworks. , I have worked with carers/cared for in their homes, as the activity coordinator and a community older people’s mental health support worker for NHS for 13 years

Jean Arthur
In my early 30s I took up Judo and achieved my Black belt. I also went back to horse riding, joining a riding group that performed battle re-enactment shows all over the UK and Europe. I was known as Bob. I was also the first female rider to do ‘Skill at Arms’ which entails jumping whilst using a sword, firing pistols, lance and tent pegging

My first job was with Tayburn in Edinburgh and after years working on annual reports, company brochures, identities etc for many of Scotland’s leading companies I became the Design Director. I joined my husbands’ company Northcross and developed the graphics side. Overall, the design business was very good to us, we made some amazing friends, got to travel a fair bit, created some memorable projects and made a good living.
Mark Greenwood and Mandy Bell
Set up Greenwood & Bell, a two-person micro agency, working mostly for B2B clients in East Anglia and London, and creating ads with brilliant local copywriter Pete Evans (78-81). Alongside G&B work, Mandy has taken the chance to develop her personal illustration style creating abstracted landscapes on the iPad.
Mark Holt
I started ‘8vo’ studio with two colleagues. 8vo ran for 17 years through to 2001 during which time we did work for Factory Records and the Haçienda club in Manchester as well as commercial projects in the UK, Germany, Thailand, Netherlands and the USA.
Nick Reed
Early 80's community arts in Doncaster, murals & puppet shows. Started up in business selling postcards & t-shirts twhich led to a stint at the N.M.E. and the Weekend Guardian
Peter Lo
After Newcastle he went back to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia where he worked at a number of ad agencies. He set up his own agency called MagicMakers, his clients included Sarawak Convention Bureau and the Sarawak Tourism board, he won an award at ITB 2008 in Germany for his work for them.
Peter Russell
Having had three of the best years ever in Newcastle, I travelled to Edinburgh and got a job with Noel Collins, who was a member of the Collins publishing family. Later I fell out of love with graphics and became an Inspector for Lothian and Borders Police. I was also employed by Strathclyde police on one occasion to sit with a witness in a murder case and produce a drawing of the suspect.
Phil Robertson
Converted my old pub bike into a 10 speed road bike. Designer, Former Postman and I also volunteer at a couple of Community Projects working on bikes/helping people fix bikes.
Rod Holt
After graduating I ended up joining Greater Manchester Police and was thrown in at the deep end with the Moss Side Race Riots. I managed a couple of years as a Bobby but eventually realised it wasn’t what I wanted. A brief stint at Rochdale Art Gallery was followed by an epic odyssey cycling over 3000 miles around France
Ron Kirwin
In 1998 I set up a design, Marketing and advertising company with a work colleague servicing B2B clients in the Northwest and Nationwide. We got 20 successful years out of it and at its peak we employed over ten staff.
Theresa Tweedy
I have worked at Field Packaging, (now Westrock) for 19 years. I design packaging for confectionery, personal care, food and drink. I am now a Graphics Manager. I am interested in Astronomy and have been working an allotment for the past 16 years growing my own fruit and veg. I love all things creative - I make my own wine, cook, sew and crochet
