How important is it to be an ally?
‘I am proud to wear my rainbow lanyard and show my visible commitment to providing a welcoming, inclusive culture for everyone who engages with Northumbria university, be they student, staff or visitor. Having a diverse community is extremely important to our university and as a proud ally of the LGBTQ* community, it is important that I do everything I can as an individual to promote a safe and inclusive environment for all. I wear my lanyard to show my support and as a daily reminder that we still have steps to take to ensure our society as a whole is truly inclusive, but that we can make a positive difference as a visible LGBTQ* ally.’
