How to Find a Graduate Job

Learn how to navigate the graduate job market and gain tips on building your networks and accessing hidden jobs. We’ll also look at some key labour market information and resources to help kick start your graduate job search in the North-East, U.K. and beyond.

This session will include:

Strategies to engage with the graduate job market.
Effective use of social media to build career contacts and explore job searching from a different perspective
Information regarding a range of relevant websites, publications, membership bodies and recruitment activities

Making Strong Graduate Applications

A strong CV and application form is your gateway to the graduate job market. We will look at how a CV is a personal marketing tool that can be used to build networking relationships and help you reflect on your skills and strengths as well as how to effectively apply for a variety of graduate positions.

This practical session will explore:

What employers look for in a strong graduate job application
A range of CV and application examples to identify and share best practice.
How you can optimise the impact of your CV and applications.

Succeeding at Graduate Job Interviews

Interviews are often the final hurdle to landing that dream job, but how do you ensure you’re the one offered the position?

This informative and interactive session will enable you to:

Anticipate what interview questions are likely to come your way and how employers mark answers.
Learn how to react to the unexpected – “how would you order from a menu?” “what type of animal would you be?”
Successfully sell your university and work experience and consider what your best achievements are.
Practice strategies to give confident, well-structured answers to secure the job you want.
Consider what to wear and how use positive body language to improve your performance at interview.
