12th North East Energy Materials and Systems Meeting (NEEMS 12)

Tuesday 17th November 2026, 9am - 5pm

The NEEMS event has been running since 2016 and has focussed on industry collaborations, skills, supply chains and whole energy systems for Net Zero. Last year’s NEEMS event showcased the growing impact of collaboration between academia and industry, highlighting industry-led energy challenges and the evolving career journeys of ReNU alumni now working across the UK’s clean-energy landscape.

NEEMS is not just an event, it is a platform and community for fostering meaningful collaborations and identifying research and practical solutions that industry leaders, policymakers and ReNU PhD students can act on.

The theme of this year’s event is: ‘From Research to Real-World Impact: Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Clean Energy’.

This year, we will be joined by guest speakers from the Clean Growth Fund, Siemens, BiofuelAi, and Mixergy, etc, providing first-hand insights into industrial innovation, early-stage climate technology investment decisions and pathways to scaling clean energy technologies, alongside opportunities for joint R&D, technology translation, and industrial deployment across the clean energy value chain.

The event offers an excellent opportunity to:

  • Showcase industrial-academic case studies demonstrating real-world impact;
  • Interact with ReNU doctoral candidates and industrial partners;
  • Identify collaborative R&D and innovation opportunities;
  • Share and learn new perspectives on achieving Net Zero

Whether you're exploring future talent, seeking fresh perspectives on R&D, or interested in practical collaboration opportunities, NEEMS 12 provides a focused platform to connect with researchers and peers across the energy sector.
