Northumbria tops the charts for best accommodation and student life again

6th October 2014

As well as having an excellent quality of life, Northumbria University students also benefit from living in the lowest cost accommodation in the country, according to a new survey.

Northumbria was ranked seventh in the UK for having the best quality of student life in the annual Lloyd’s Bank University Quality of Student Life Survey, whichmeasures student satisfaction and living standards.

The University was also named as having the lowest cost institution-owned or sponsored accommodation for students.

The findings follow the University’s recent similar successes in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards, where Northumbria won the national award for having the best city life for students and was rated within the UK top five for having the best student accommodation. The University was also rated as having the best broadband in the country this summer in the National Student Housing Survey.

Last month, Northumbria opened its newest student accommodation at Trinity Square in Gateshead. Trinity Square offers almost 1,000 beds with stunning views across the NewcastleGateshead skyline and rooftop leisure facilities, immediately above a cinema and supermarket with a range of bars, restaurants, independent retailers and coffee shops below.

Adam Dunlop, Marketing Director at Northumbria University, said: “The University works hard to ensure that we provide our students with an outstanding experience at all levels. We offer excellent courses, fantastic opportunities for work experience, volunteering and studying abroad, all within world-class facilities, including our newly-opened Trinity Square accommodation in Gateshead.

“To be recognised as giving our students a high-quality experience and outstanding living accommodation by two different organisations in quick succession clearly shows that we are making strong progress in giving our students what they want.”
