REVEAL 2019: A summer of success for Northumbria's creatives

14th June 2019

REVEAL 2019 – Northumbria University’s end of year showcase for its creative programmes – opens to the public on Thursday.

Taking place at the end of every academic year, the exhibition displays the outstanding talents of final year students from a range of creative courses, including Animation, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Fashion, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interactive Media Design, 3D Design, Design for Industry and Interior Design.

Open to the public, the event runs until Saturday, 29 June and coincides with the Northumbria University open days on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 June.

The REVEAL exhibition is free to enter and is being held at various locations across the University’s city centre campus. To discover where you can find exhibits that you are interested in – and to book your place at the VIP opening night on Thursday 20 June – click here.

REVEAL 2019 is also a great opportunity to see some of Northumbria University’s new buildings and facilities, many of which are playing host to REVEAL exhibitions.

One of the most impressive backdrops this year will be the new Architecture workshop and laboratory spaces which will open their doors to the public for the first time as part of REVEAL: Architecture 2019.

Located to the rear of Northumbria’s historic 19th century Sutherland Building, the extended spaces provide world-class facilities for staff and students and were designed by Page\Park Architects, who have won over 150 national and international design awards.

The £6.8 million investment in the new space has already been recognised for excellence in architectural circles after it won a 2019 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) North East Award, as well as being shortlisted in the Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards (CENE).

Students are already benefitting from the new facilities on offer. Final year and Newcastle-born Architecture student Will Fraser is among the students exhibiting work at REVEAL this year. The 22-year-old said: “We have access – which is free - to concrete laboratories, workshops, 3D printers and modelling equipment and the desks we work on are huge for each student.”

Northumbria University has a wealth of creative graduates who have honed their skills under the watchful eye of experts in their field, be it successful artists, filmmakers, creative professionals or ground-breaking designers and architects.
