Steve Ball

Senior Lecturer

Department: Newcastle Business School

EE Steveball Staffprofile 255Having worked in various IT support, development, and management positions within industry, and the HE sector, I joined Northumbria University in 2003 as a Senior Lecturer in Business Information Systems.

Whilst coming from a strong technical IT background, I now combine my research and teaching of technical/business skills as a catalyst for innovation and creativity in a small business environment. My key teaching on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes concentrates on the application of technology for effective business start-up and growth.

I have research interests in many aspects of enterprise-related activity, specialising in the effective teaching of entrepreneurship. My initial findings are available at Northumbria Research Link (NRL). This interest has now scaled into my Professional Doctorate project investigating the impact of enterprise education in the HE sector.

I have a wide network of small business owners, business support agencies, and entrepreneurs that I often invite in as guest speakers.
