Jessica Gates

Research Assistant

Department: Nursing, Midwifery & Health

Jessica Gates is a PhD Student and Research Assistant at Northumbria University, Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health. 

Jessica's research focuses on a number of themes including; health policy and systems; ageing and psychosocial well-being; social isolation, loneliness and digital exclusion. Her methodological expertise lies in qualitative and mixed methods.

Jessica's ongoing PhD research is titled "Primary Care Networks: From Opportunity to Reality" and is funded by North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group. Jessica is supervised by Dr Gemma Wilson, Prof Alison Steven, Dr Lesley Young-Murphy and Dr Lynn Craig. 

Jessica is also a Research Assistant working within the Northern Hub for Veterans and Military Families’ Research at Northumbria University. Jessica is primarily working on projects under the Ageing Veterans and Military Families’ research theme within the hub, specifically focusing on War Widows research. 

Jessica has interests in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and is part of the department's EDI working group.
