Our Alumni - Work For Us
I am an Assistant Professor in nutrition and exercise physiology at Northumbria University and practitioner registrant on the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register. I have a BSc in sport and exercise science from Leeds Beckett University and following a few years working in education and the food industry, returned to study my MSc in nutritional science at Northumbria University. I then started up a consultancy business as a personal trainer and nutritionist before being offered a dual role PhD with Sport England and Northumbria University, where I led the nutrition support for Team Northumbria and TASS. During my PhD, I also completed my PGCert in Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Leeds Beckett and has been a member of the SENR ever since. I took my first academic post at Sheffield Hallam in August 2019, where I taught nutrition, exercise physiology, physical activity and wellbeing. I gained my fellowship with the Higher Education Academy and completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice during my time at SHU. I am an active researcher in the area of Sport and Exercise nutrition and a committee member in the BDA Sports Nutrition Special Interest Group.
My current research interests are the effect of ergogenic aids on exercise performance and recovery, adaptations in metabolism following exercise and diet modifications and the role of nutrition in the prevention and managemtment of sports related concussion.
