Dr Afua Owusu-Kwarteng

Afua joined the Newcastle Business School as a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Strategy in October 2023. She holds a BA (Hons) in social work and sociology from the University of Ghana and an MSc in development evaluation and management from the University of Antwerp. Afua received her PhD in Management from Lancaster University in 2023. 

From 2019-2022, Afua has been the network manager for the Women Innovators Network for Africa (WINA), an integrated research project emanating from Lancaster University’s £7M GCRF RECIRCULATE project. On the WINA project, Afua provided immense direction for the identification, recruitment and engagement of women entrepreneurs and scientists across several sub-Saharan African countries, including Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Nigeria, Malawi, South Africa and Botswana, in the co-creation, co-design, and co-delivery of innovative solutions around the circular economy. Toward that end, Afua's primary research interest lies at the intersection of entrepreneurship, innovation management, sustainable development and sustainability.
