Vicky SturrsVicky Sturrs is Head of Learning and Civic Engagement at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. She manages the strategic vision and programming of an ambitious and innovative learning and civic engagement programme. Highlights include the initiation and development of a series of play-led exhibitions and commissions, including Infinity Pitch by Pester & Rossi, THE CITY IS WHERE WE’RE GOING NEXT by Simon & Tom Bloor and Playshapes by Pippa Hale and Creating Change, a Virgin Money funded initiative developing and nurturing an ethos of social action in some of Gateshead’s most deprived wards.

Previously, Vicky was BALTIC’s Schools and Colleges Programmer for four years. Before BALTIC, Vicky held the Education Officer post at mima, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, for four years and completed her Masters in Art Museum and Gallery Education at Newcastle University.

Vicky is a Fellow of the RSA, trustee of Lawnmowers Independent Theatre Company and currently chairs the Gateshead LCEP and NGCV Learning & Participation Group. Additionally, Vicky led the Great Exhibition of the North Learning Steering Group culminating in 2018’s successful summer season welcoming 21,000 school pupils to Newcastle/Gateshead cultural venues.
