Santander Universities

Santander Universities is a division of the Santander organisation aimed at supporting the communities in which it operates.

Since 2015, our partnership with Santander Universities UK has delivered a wide range of benefits to Northumbria University students.

Northumbria University, in partnership with Santander Universities, are offering the opportunity for students to carry out an International Virtual Internship in the academic year 2021-22.

The scholarship to cover administrative costs for a one-semester online internship organised by our partner Virtual Internships ( will be awarded to applicants based on academic and employability merit*.


  • You must be a Northumbria student in the academic year 2021-22
  • Full-time and part-time students
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • UK and international students

You must have a good academic standing (be on track for a minimum 2:1)

You must commit to the programmes once the offer is accepted.

Scholarships must be returned if you withdraw from the programme.


Application process

To apply for the programme, please fill out the online form: Santander Virtual Internships Scholarships Application Form

The application process will start on Monday 3 May.

The deadline is Friday 21 May, 2021 at 5PM. Results will be provided to awardees only by 28th May. They will then be asked to follow VI’s processes thereon.

The full-time virtual internships will be starting on 27 September 2021 and will last 12 weeks.
