Quality and Teaching Excellence

 

The Quality and Teaching Excellence team provides support to Faculties and Services through the development, approval, delivery, enhancement and review of all academic programmes.  This is underpinned by the University's Framework for Quality and Standards.

 

Led by the Deputy Academic Registrar, the Quality and Teaching Excellence Team includes c.26 staff and has 4 areas of work:

 

  • The Approval and Review Team manages all programme and module approvals, including all partnership developments and associated quality assurance; validation / franchise arrangements; dual / joint awards; and distance learning support centres. The team also supports on-going University review and action planning, via Annual Programme Monitoring and Periodic Review.
  • The Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) Accreditations Team plans and co‐ordinates all accreditation events / activities and accreditation records maintenance. The team also coordinates preparatory work for accreditations, including collating / drafting documentation.
  • The Governance and Enhancement Team supports Academic Board, and the University Student Learning and Experience Committee and its sub-committees. The team also maintains and monitors University Regulations (including assessment regulations and External Examiner reports / appointment); student engagement (via module and programme feedback and the NSS); and supports enhancement activity, including the Northumbria University Teaching Quality Enhancement Fund and our Professional Recognition Scheme.
  • The Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes team is led by our Professor and comprises of Principal Lecturers (Learning and Teaching) who provide strategic support and leadership for key areas of work which impact on University quality and standards.
