Alternative Ceremony

The alternative ceremony will follow the same format as our main congregations, but with a smaller audience, reduced sensory input and a calmer environment.

This may be particularly helpful for students or guests who would benefit from a quieter space, have sensory or access needs, or who feel the larger ceremony may not be the right fit for them.

If you would like to attend this ceremony, rather than the ceremony for your course, please wait until you receive your congregation invite and then contact the Congregations Office rather than booking a ceremony via the link in the booking task so we can discuss what accommodations you may need. It would also be helpful to know whether you would still like to wear a gown and have the option of having professional photographs taken when you contact us.

Gowns and photographs

If you choose to wear a gown, this will be available for collection in the Great Hall.

Gown and photo packages can be ordered through our supplier Ede & Ravenscroft.

Wearing a gown is entirely optional - you are very welcome to have photographs taken whether you choose to wear one or not.
