How do I apply?
In the first instance you will need to discuss your wish to study abroad with your home institution and specifically with your Study Abroad Office.
They can work with you to advise on the application procedure and on how to choose appropriate modules for your individual requirements.
You should research your module requests using our 'Constructing your Programme' page and select a minimum of ten modules on your application.
Please complete the relevant application form and submit it along with the following supporting documents:
- Academic transcript (in English)
- Copy of the personal details page of your passport (can be submitted at a later stage if you are in the process of applying for one)
- Portfolio (if applying for an art or design programme)

Deadlines
Applications for the September semester must be received by 1st June and for the January Semester by 1st November.
Once you have met all our conditions and paid your deposit (if relevant), you should submit your Offer Acceptance and CAS request by 2 September (for Semester 1 entry) and by 10 December (for Semester 2 entry).
BUTEX International Scholarship
The BUTEX International Scholarship is open to all international undergraduate students whose period of study abroad is not funded by an ERASMUS grant. To be eligible to apply you must have been offered a study abroad or exchange place at a UK university which is BUTEX affiliated, such as Northumbria. Your study abroad or exchange place must be for a minimum of one semester.
The value of each scholarship is £500 and will be paid to the winners once they have arrived and registered at their host university.
Applications will be accepted from January for the following academic year and the deadlines for all applications is usually the end of May, but please check the website for actual deadlines.
