Visiting Northumbria through Erasmus+

For colleagues from partner institutions

Northumbria has applied for Erasmus+ Charter status, which is needed before the University can bid for funding to host incoming colleagues through the programme. We expect a decision by autumn 2026, with a funding call expected to follow later in the year for activity in 2027/28.

Northumbria is working towards offering Erasmus+ funded staff mobility, giving colleagues from our partner institutions the opportunity to teach, train or collaborate with us in Newcastle.

Northumbria's Erasmus+ Charter application is currently under review, with a decision expected by autumn 2026. If the Charter is awarded, a funding call is expected to open towards the end of 2026 for mobility activity in 2027/28. Further information about applying for incoming Erasmus+ staff mobility will be published once the funding call opens. Please check this page for updates. 

For participants undertaking an approved Erasmus+ mobility at Northumbria, the University will provide appropriate support to help ensure a positive and productive experience.

This may include:

  • Information about accommodation options
  • Guidance on visas and immigration requirements, where applicable
  • Campus orientation and practical information
  • Access to a named contact during the visit
  • Information about health, safety, and wellbeing support services
  • Opportunities to engage with colleagues and relevant University activities
