The NU ALLSTARS Scholarship aims to support UK/Home students from our partner schools and colleges to help unlock their potential and make the most of their university experience. This £1,500 scholarship is available for Year 13 students to apply, with funds allocated on enrolment to a Level 4 course at Northumbria in September 2026.

One scholarship will be awarded to a student from each NU ALLSTARS partner institution. As a recipient, successful applicants will also be guaranteed an interview as a Student Rep in their first year at Northumbria. This is a paid role at the university where students will act as ambassadors for the university.

Terms and Conditions

To be considered for the NU ALLSTARS Scholarship you must also;

Be a UK/Home applicant - This includes students domiciled in Jersey, Guernsey, The Channel Islands, Ireland and Isle of Man
Apply and enrol to study on a on a Full-Time basis on an Undergraduate Course starting in first year at Level 4 at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus, commencing September 2026
Have chosen Northumbria as your firm choice by 30 June 2026
Meet the conditions of your offer and individual entry requirements
Be a self-funded student (i.e. not sponsored by an employer)
Apply for one or more elements of the Government Student Finance package (for example, Tuition Fee loan, Maintenance loan)
Register with Student Finance England (SFE), Student Finance Wales (SFW) or Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI)
As a Scottish student, register with Student Award Agency for Scotland (SAAS) and apply to be means-tested for maintenance funding, in order that SASS can send your data to Student Finance England
Agree to share consent via your Student Finance Provider with Northumbria University

Important Information

Students selected for NU ALLSTARS will not be eligible for any other Undergraduate awards
If you apply and are successful for more than one award, you will automatically receive the one of highest value
To be eligible to apply, you must be starting at Level 4 - the first year of an Undergraduate degree
The scholarship is awarded as cash
*Payments will be made as £375 (25%) by the end of November 2026, £375 (25%) by the end of February 2027 and £750 (50%) by the end of May 2027
The award will be made in the first year of study only
If you are undertaking a Level 3 (Foundation Year or Extended Degree) qualification, you are not eligible
If you are progressing from a Foundation Year studied at Northumbria or another institution, you are not eligible
If you defer your place at Northumbria University before the scholarship has been paid, the offer will be withdrawn
If you decide to leave your course after the Award payment has been made, the University will not make efforts to reclaim the amount
The University's decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal

Make sure you address both parts of the question – your aspirations for university and how the scholarship will help you achieve them. Try to create clear connections between what you want to achieve and how the scholarship will enable you to do this.

Think Beyond Your Degree

Tell us about your aspirations that go beyond just completing your degree. What do you hope to experience, achieve, or get involved with during your time at Northumbria? You might consider opportunities that are available as part of your degree, or new experiences that you wish to gain whilst at university.

Focus on Opportunities and Experiences

Think about how the scholarship will enable you to participate and engage with university life. Tell us what the scholarship will enable you to do and experience. How will having this financial support help you make the most of your time at Northumbria and reach your full potential?

Be Specific to You and Northumbria

Make your application personal – link your response to your own circumstances, interests and aspirations. Show that you've thought about your journey at Northumbria specifically.

Structure Your Response Clearly

Use a clear structure with logical flow between your ideas. Make sure your response is easy to follow and understand. Check your spelling and grammar before submitting.
